  3. Dear fellow SYSOP,

  5. This is the read-me file for the merges to enable sysops to
  6. reduce the size of RBBS-PC.EXE.  It should be a part of RBBS-LIT.ZIP
  7. containing the following files:
  8.  
  9. *.LIT          Shorter code that replaces that in RBBS-PC.
  10. *.MRG          Driver files for each group of subprograms
  11. MAKELIT.BAT    Batch file for applying LIT merges
  12. SETLIT.DOC     Detailed documentation for LIT merges
  13. SETLIT.INC     Master control file used to specify what to omit from code
  14.  
  15. This file is part of a larger set of files and should not be
  16. distributed alone.

  18. RBBS-PC Version CPC17.3 is distributed via three mandatory and four
  19. optional standard "ZIP" files.   Two sets of merges are available but
  20. not automatically distributed.

  37. RBBSSEXE.ZIP  RBBS-PC.EXE.  Smaller, faster, minimal debugging.

  39. Simply uncompress the first three files and follow the instruction in the
  40. RBBS-PC documentation entitled, "Installing RBBS-PC for the First Time."

  42. For those who have never operated an electronic bulletin board before,
  43. we suggest getting Bantam Books' "The Complete Electronic Bulletin Board
  44. Starter Kit" by Charles Bowen and David Peyton (ISBN 0-553-34552-4).
  45. RBBS-PC's documentation is only a "reference" and is not nearly as good
  46. a learning guide for new SYSOP's.  However, the book only covers RBBS-PC
  47. version 15.1C, and therefore does not cover new features.  Version 17.3
  48. is downward compatible with the system files of 15.1C.
